You must not go any faster than a slow wake
speed when within 100 feet of any dock, raft, anchored vessel, bathing beach
or buoy

A second person is needed to act as a
competent observer, (a.k.a. a spotter) whenever towing anyone on skis,
sleds, or tubes

Anyone born after 1978 must have a boater
safety certificate from the State of Michigan to operate a motorized boat or
PWC (Personal Water Craft). This also applies to persons that come from out
of State to visit. There is a web site BoatUS.com where you can take the
course and get certified if you can not take the course locally

you must be 12 years of age with a boater
safety certificate to operate a boat in the State of Michigan

You must be 14 years of age with a boater
certificate to operate a PWC

Jet Ski's must be off the lake one hour
before sunset

Flotation devices for PWC: Under age 6, must
use Type I life vest; ages 6-12 must use a Type II life vest

Requirements for Towing
Skiers Every vessel towing a person(s) on water skis, a surfboard, or a
similar device must have a person, in addition to the vessel operator,
observing the towed person(s) at all times. It is illegal to tow persons on
water skis, surfboards, or any device of this type between: One hour after
sunset and one hour before sunrise if towed behind a boat One hour before
sunset and 8:00 a.m. if towed behind a PWC Persons being towed must stay at
least 100 feet away from: A shoreline (if operating in water less than three
feet deep) Any moored or anchored vessel A dock or raft Any marked swimming
area or person(s) in the water.
